Introducing Auto-Log: Never Miss Another Slack Conversation
Automation

New feature automatically syncs your Slack Connect and guest channel conversations directly to HubSpot, no manual logging required.
For most modern GTM teams, Slack is where the real work happens. Deals move forward in shared channels. Renewal objections surface in offhand comments. Champions share updates, or raise doubts, between meetings.
But there’s one problem: none of it makes it back to your CRM.
If you're using HubSpot, your emails are tracked. Your calls are logged. But those critical Slack conversations? They vanish. Invisible to your managers. Missing from your forecasting. And completely absent from the deal’s timeline when you need to review what really happened.
We built Auto-Log to fix this.
Slack is the new front office. But your CRM doesn’t know that.
In most companies, Slack has quietly become the operating system for customer-facing work. Sales, customer success, and partnerships teams now manage much of their pipeline not in the CRM but in Slack Connect.
Think about it:
The AE shares pricing updates in a shared channel.
The CSM fields a renewal concern.
A partner asks about co-marketing before intro’ing a lead.
In every case, Slack holds valuable context. Context that can shape how a deal unfolds. Or explain why it didn’t.
But unless someone manually logs that Slack thread into HubSpot, that context disappears. There’s no record of the concern. No proof the partner asked. No insight into what went sideways.
Auto-Log fixes this. It works silently in the background without changing how your team operates.
Introducing Auto-Log for Slack Connect and Guest Channels
Sidekick’s new Auto-Log feature bridges the gap between Slack and HubSpot. It works automatically and behind the scenes. And not just in Slack Connect it also works with internal Slack channels that have guest users added. Once enabled, it:
Tracks customer conversations in Slack Connect
Maps Slack users to HubSpot contacts using their email ID
Logs daily summaries of channel activity
Adds a Timeline Event to each mapped contact in HubSpot
(Optionally) Creates a concise Note for high-level visibility
Your team doesn’t need to change a thing. There are no new buttons. No extra workflows. No reminders to log anything.
Slack stays the same. But now HubSpot knows what happened.
What Auto-Log Actually Does
Setup time: under 2 minutes. Workflow changes: zero.
When you enable Auto-Log:
You select which Slack Connect channels to track (public or private)
Sidekick automatically detects any external or guest users in those channels
For each user, it tries to find a match in HubSpot using their email
If a match is found, Sidekick maps the Slack user to the contact
At the end of each day, Sidekick:
Checks each tracked channel for new conversations
Logs those conversations to HubSpot as a Timeline Event
(Optionally) adds a summarised Note to the contact
You can even turn on an additional setting to log messages to the associated Deal if one exists.
And this doesn't just apply to Slack Connect Sidekick also supports internal Slack channels where guest users are added. As long as the guest user maps to a HubSpot contact, their messages will be tracked and logged.
And in case you're worried about control you have it:
You can track or untrack channels any time
You can view an audit log of synced messages
You can manually resolve Slack-to-HubSpot mapping conflicts
Auto-Log is powerful. But it's also quiet. It just works.
Why This Matters
Many revenue teams we spoke with estimated that the majority of their most actionable customer signals show up in Slack first long before they show up in email or on a recorded call. Yet almost none of that gets reflected in HubSpot.
Auto-Log is designed to close that gap. It doesn’t rely on more manual tasks. Instead, it runs quietly in the background.
Slack is full of signals. Signals that often go unnoticed until it's too late.
Maybe a customer raised a concern about value in a shared channel. But the CSM forgot to log it. A few weeks later, the renewal is lost and everyone is surprised.
Or maybe a partner warned you about internal pushback. But it never made it into the deal record. When the prospect ghosts, you’re left guessing.
Auto-Log ensures that doesn’t happen. It gives your team a second brain one that listens in the background and quietly keeps your CRM up to date.
And in doing so, it:
Helps sales leaders forecast more confidently
Gives RevOps teams cleaner, fuller data
Surfaces risk before it becomes revenue loss
Makes post-mortems more honest and more useful
It also takes pressure off your team. They no longer have to remember what to log or justify what was missed.
Who It’s For
Auto-Log is especially valuable if:
Your AEs or AMs use Slack Connect to manage opportunities
Your CSMs handle onboarding or renewals in Slack
Your Partner team collaborates with resellers or agencies inside shared channels
You’re tired of chasing down reps to update the CRM
You’ve ever looked at a deal record and felt like half the story was missing
If Slack is where your customer conversations happen Auto-Log is for you.

Click Auto-Sync Slack Connect
Toggle the feature ON
Select the channels you want to track
That’s it. Sidekick will do the rest.
Bonus: You can also enable tracking for internal Slack channels with guest user. It's perfect for collaborating with customers or partners that doesn’t use Slack Connect.
You can view sync activity in the audit log. And if you need to update mappings or adjust settings, it’s all under the same tab.
Final Thoughts
Your team shouldn’t have to choose between working in Slack and updating the CRM. They shouldn’t lose context just because a conversation wasn’t in email.
Auto-Log closes that gap. Quietly. Reliably. Automatically.
It makes your CRM smarter. And it does that without adding more work for your team.
